Voice Training
InterACT Entertainment Vocal Studio:
Vocal Lessons through InterACT Vocal Studio are primarily geared for the budding intermediate or advanced student who is currently performing and is interested in actively pursuing more opportunities, who has possible career or collegiate aspirations in the arts, or who is otherwise a student who loves to sing, and wishes to seriously study music and voice. Students may begin lessons at any age they become interested, and consistent lessons are especially important for their vocal health if they are already performing. Vocal study with any good teacher will help the student stop bad habits before they start, naturally encourage development of good habits, and will hone proper technique, appropriate repertoire, and develop good musicianship. Curriculum: All students learn music theory, repertoire, and proper vocal pedagogy, artistry, and technique appropriate to their age level, experience and interests. All styles of music are taught, including classical/opera, musical theater, jazz/standards, and some popular music selections. Vocal technique can be taught in a variety of different ways, no specific “method” is used; knowledge is gained through studying the varying ideology of vocal development and through the mastery that comes from personal experience guided by a qualified, committed, and sensitive teacher. Increasing musicianship, ear training, and music theory exercises are a regular part of the vocalist’s journey in class, strengthening the knowledge base and adding confidence to the spine of any performance. An assortment of musical games, activities, and listening examples are used during the lesson, in addition to time spent vocalizing and working on repertoire. The school year culminates in a final showcase performance, invoiced separate from the month-to-month lesson invoices. Contact Debbie for more info. *Special note for the Vocal Transfer Student: There are a lot of great voice teachers out there and I don’t want you to transfer to me (Debbie Tedrick) unless there’s a really good reason (and unless your former teacher would be supportive as well). Our success together as teacher/student is very important! Positive transfer situations include moving to a new area, a former teacher retiring or changing their work load, or a colleague sending you to me because my expertise is more along the lines of your career aspirations than what they like to specialize in. We’ll talk about your background and goals at the first few lessons and make plans accordingly.
